Overview
discuria respects the intellectual property rights of authors, publishers, and rights holders. We comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and respond promptly to valid takedown requests.
If you believe that content hosted on discuria infringes your copyright, please follow the process below to submit a takedown notice.
What We Host
discuria stores user-uploaded PDF files for the purpose of reading, annotation, and academic discussion. We do not independently source or redistribute copyrighted publications. All uploaded PDFs are provided by users who affirm they have the right to share the content at the time of upload.
Paper metadata (titles, authors, abstracts) displayed in search results is sourced from publicly available academic APIs and is not subject to this takedown policy.
Submitting a Takedown Notice
To submit a DMCA takedown notice, send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
- Identification of the copyrighted work — The title, DOI, ISBN, or other identifier of the work you claim is infringed.
- Identification of the infringing material — The URL or paper identifier on discuria where the infringing content is located.
- Your contact information — Your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
- A statement of good faith — A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement of accuracy — A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
- Your signature — A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorized agent.
Our Response Process
Receipt & Review
We will acknowledge receipt of your takedown notice within 1 business day and review it for completeness.
Content Removal
If the notice is valid and complete, we will remove or disable access to the infringing content within 2 business days.
Uploader Notification
We will notify the user who uploaded the content that it has been removed due to a DMCA takedown notice.
Counter-Notice
The uploader may submit a counter-notice if they believe the takedown was in error. We will forward counter-notices to the original complainant.
Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to [email protected] containing:
- Identification of the material that was removed and its former location on the Service
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, and phone number
- A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located
- Your physical or electronic signature
Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file suit within 10-14 business days, we may restore the content.
Repeat Infringers
discuria maintains a policy of terminating the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers. Users who receive three valid DMCA takedown notices will have their accounts permanently suspended.
